Quality Assurance Intern

Locable is looking for a Quality Assurance Intern to join us immediately.

What’s this all about?

Locable is a software-as-a-service (SAAS) company looking for our next great team member as we empower local businesses, nonprofits and communities to #TakeBackLocal. Are you passionate about helping local businesses, understanding how revolutionary software works in the real world, and detail-oriented?

We’re seeking a part-time Quality Assurance Intern who will be responsible for testing our apps, documenting bugs, and creating mockups and user stories for new features. The ideal candidate should be interested in product management and development, comfortable communicating with software developers, and have a strong thirst to learn about all of the things that go into building and maintaining cloud-based software.

Experience with any of the following frameworks, languages, or tools is a plus: Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, AWS, Heroku, Github, Pivotal Tracker, Trello.

This internship offers a monthly stipend and may also be used for school credit depending on your schools individual requirements. Opportunities for full- and part-time work will be explored at the end of the internship.

For those interested, there are opportunities to write code and contribute to our codebase, but the ability or desire to do so is not required for the position.

What will I do all day?

As a Quality Insurance Intern, you will work closely with our development team to test our apps from our users perspective and provide meaningful feedback to our developers. You’ll review specific feature/bug tickets to ensure all items are fully addressed and file tickets in our bug tracking software as needed.

Essentially, we want you to uncover the bugs and bad experiences our developers overlook before we release bug fixes and new features to our customers!

You will also be responsible for helping prioritizing development efforts based on customer needs and identifying better ways to do things within our apps whether that is designing a better user interface/experience (UX/UI) or doing research to find the right tool or approach to a given tech problem.

We’re looking for someone special with a strong interest in local businesses and organizations, especially those in retail, restaurant, professional services, publishing, and membership management.

Project management skills, web aptitude, and concise tech-heavy writing ability is essential.

  • Someone who can join us in our office in Folsom at least 2 days per week through the end of March or beyond
