From costumed fun in October to festive cheer in December, here's everything you need to know about celebrating in the heart of Hillsboro.
Halloween Fun: Trick-or-Treat & Costume Closet!
Get ready for some classic, neighborhood-style Halloween fun and a wonderful way to ensure every child can join the celebration!
Trick or Treat on Main Street!
When: Friday, October 31 | 5:00–7:00 PM
What: It's back to basics! Bring your costumed kids and families for traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating at our amazing local businesses along Main Street and surrounding blocks. Look for the flyer in the window to see who is participating!
No road closures this year—just an open, family-friendly atmosphere. The map of participating businesses will be posted on the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership (HDP) socials soon!
We Need Your Candy Donations!
Downtown Hillsboro is calling on the community to help make this event extra sweet! Your donations lighten the load for our small businesses and ensure every trick-or-treater leaves with a smile.
Drop-off Location (The HIVE): HDP Office – 233 SE Washington St.
Drop-off Times: Monday–Friday, 10 AM–5 PM
FREE Costume Closet This Saturday at M&M Market!
Help every family celebrate in style! The HDP is hosting a pop-up Costume Closet specifically for families experiencing hardship.
When: This Saturday, October 26 from 3:00–6:00 PM
Where: M&M Marketplace (346 SW Walnut St)
What: Free Halloween costumes for all ages (kids, teens, and adults). First come, first served.
Donate Costumes: Have clean, gently used costumes? Drop them off at the Downtown HIVE (233 SE Washington St) to give them a second life!
Costume Closet Continues until Halloween!
The costume closet will be open to the public at the Hive at Hillsboro Downtown Partnership for the Week following up to Halloween!When: Wednesday, October 29 to Friday, October 31st from 10:00AM – 5:00 PM

A Last Chance for Hope: The Wishing Tree
Don’t miss your final opportunity to visit and participate in this remarkable piece of living art before it's gone!
What: The Downtown Wishing Tree—the interactive art installation at the Washington County Courthouse Weeping Beech Tree.
When: It remains in place through the end of October.
Why: Take a moment to pause, reflect, and add your own wish to the branches—for yourself, for a loved one, or for the world around you. Experience the spirit of hope and connection in the heart of Downtown Hillsboro.
Get Festive & Give Back: Volunteer for Hillsboro Holly Days!
The holiday season needs your festive spirit! Help make this year's Hillsboro Holly Days Celebration magical.
Call for Volunteers! We're looking for enthusiastic people to help with the annual holiday celebration.
When: Saturday, November 22nd
What: Roles include setup, helping with the parade route, serving hot cocoa, assisting Santa, cleanup, and spreading overall holiday cheer!
Why: Join the fun, earn community service hours, and be a part of a beautiful Hillsboro tradition.
