20th Annual Saline Main Street Oktoberfest: A Celebration of German Heritage and Community Spirit

SALINE, MI – August 25, 2025 – Downtown Saline will transform into a Bavarian-style festival ground on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20, 2025, as Saline Main Street hosts the 20th Annual Saline Oktoberfest. This landmark celebration not only honors German heritage but also serves as Saline Main Street’s largest fundraiser of the year, supporting projects and events that keep downtown vibrant and welcoming.

The festivities begin Friday evening with the traditional Tapping of the Golden Keg, led by the 2025 Festmeister or Festmeisterin (to be announced) and continue late into the night with live music, authentic German cuisine, and local brews. Festival-goers can test their strength in the Stein Holding Contest (5:45 on Friday) or try their luck at Hammerspiel (6:00 Saturday), while enjoying the lively atmosphere under the big tent.

Saturday’s schedule is packed with entertainment for all ages. The always-popular Wiener Dog Races return to North Ann Arbor Street (4:30 Saturday), right after the Kinderplatz (10 – 2 Saturday) featuring bounce houses and free children’s entertainment – including the band Gemini at 11 am. Attendees of the Biergarten will also enjoy polka music, contemporary bands, and plenty of food and drink. In honor of the 20th anniversary, guests can purchase limited-edition commemorative steins and merchandise to mark the occasion.

“For 20 years, Oktoberfest has been the heartbeat of downtown in the fall,” said Mary Dettling, Executive Director of Saline Main Street. “This festival celebrates the strong German heritage many of our community members, brings people together, and fuels the projects that make Saline a place people are proud to call their home.”
