Oktoberfest Steinholding Contest

Think you’ve got the strength to hold your stein? Put your endurance to the test during Downtown Mason City’s Oktoberfest!

We’re kicking off the first-ever Mason City Oktoberfest Steinholding Contest, and we want to see who can keep their stein up the longest. Gather your courage, steady your arm, and get ready to compete for bragging rights as Mason City’s first Steinholding Champion!


Contest Information

Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026
Location: State Street Stage, Downtown Mason City
Registration Fee: $20 per contestant
Contest Time: 6PM. Please arrive around 5:45PM to check-in, gather all necessary information, etc.

How It Works
Contestants will compete in heats, holding a filled stein at arm’s length for as long as possible. Contestants will be assigned to heats after registration closes, and registered participants will receive their heat assignment and check-in time before Oktoberfest.

Entry is $20 per contestant, with a 50/50 prize split! The number of heats and advancement to the final round will be determined based on the total number of registrations.

Before You Sign Up
Please keep the following in mind:

  • Contestants must be 21 years of age or older.
  • A valid ID may be required at check-in.
  • Contestants must use the stein provided by event organizers.
  • Contestants must follow all official contest rules and judge instructions.
  • Contestants must check in at their assigned time.
  • Heat assignments will be determined by event organizers after registration closes.
  • Registration does not guarantee a specific heat or contest time.
  • Contestants are expected to participate responsibly and follow all event alcohol and safety guidelines.
  • Judges' decisions are final.

2026 Oktoberfest Steinholding Contest

I acknowledge that I am 21 years of age or older and understand that I must present a valid photo ID at check-in to participate.
I understand that participation in the Steinholding Contest is completely voluntary. I am choosing to participate with full knowledge that the activity may involve physical exertion, the handling and/or consumption of alcohol, and other inherent risks.
I understand and voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation, including but not limited to physical injury, muscle strain, fatigue, dizziness, dehydration, illness, falls, spills, broken glass, or other injury or loss that may occur before, during, or after the contest.
I agree to participate responsibly and understand that I may be removed from the contest at any time if event organizers, staff, or judges determine that my participation presents a safety concern or that I am not following event rules or instructions.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

By participating in the Steinholding Competition, I hereby release and hold harmless Main Street Mason City, Brix Wine & Whiskey, the City of Mason City, partners, event organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including personal injury or property damage, that may be sustained while participating in this event.

I have read and agree to the Release of Liability
I grant permission for Main Street Mason City and event partners to use photographs and video taken during the event for promotional purposes.
