Probationary Patrolmen
Application Deadline: December 29, 2025The Police Civil Service Commission of the City of Weston, West Virginia, will conduct a competitive written examination and a physical agility test for Probationary Patrolmen. Additionally, the City welcomes applicants interested in testing for existing certified part-time or full-time officer positions.
The written examination is scheduled to be held at the municipal building, located at 102 W. 2nd Street in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia, on Friday, February 20th, at 5:00 p.m. Candidates who arrive after the start time of 5:00 p.m. will not be allowed to enter the examination venue. Test scores from the Police Civil Service Examination will be available at the municipal building within 24 hours after the exam. Those who pass the written test will move on to the next stage in the hiring process. The Physical Agility Test (PAT) will be scheduled for a later date.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess a high school diploma, GED, and relevant education and experience at the time of hire.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
- Applicants must be United States citizens, either by birth or naturalization.
- Candidates shall not have any felony convictions or serious misdemeanors, including
those related to domestic violence.
-Must possess a West Virginia driver’s license upon graduation from the academy
- All applicants are required to present a certified copy of their Birth Certificate and a valid
driver's license before testing.
- Applicants who are currently certified Officers through the West Virginia Department of
Justice will receive an additional five (5) points upon passing the written
examination. Additionally, 5 bonus points will be provided for all military personnel
who provide a certified copy of an Honorable Discharge for their military service.
Physical Agility Exam
SIT UPS: The minimum standard for this test is 28 sit-ups.
PUSH-UPS: The minimum standard for this test is 18 push-ups.
1.5 MILE RUN: The minimum standard for this test is 14 minutes and 36 seconds.

experience.
