Who is Lesley Slaughter? Lesley is the Director of Lewis County Family Support Services, leading over 40 impactful programs within the Lewis County Family Resource Network. Previously, she served as the Associate Director for Central WV Community Action, where she crafted successful initiatives in transportation and emergency assistance. Her journey includes experiences as an Emergency 9-1-1 Dispatcher and Massage Therapist, and her deep passion for helping others naturally guided her to social services. As the first female Administrator of the Weston Moose Lodge, she was honored as "Administrator of the Year" at the West Virginia Moose Association Convention, contributing to the lodge earning the "Top Lodge" title for two consecutive years. Lesley embraces her role as a dedicated mother to two daughters.

I asked Lesley to share a few insights with our community:

Are there any specific projects or initiatives you’ve participated in that you're particularly proud of?

"I'm proud of the work I do every single day, but raising awareness of skin cancer and melanoma will always be closest to my heart. I've participated in, supported and contributed to countless projects from food security to homelessness to veteran assistance...and all topics that fall in between."

Do you have a message you would like to share with the community?

"Community involvement isn’t about having all the answers or doing everything perfectly. It’s about taking small steps that make a real difference. It’s about investing time, compassion, and skills to build a place we’re proud to call home."
