September Chamber Luncheon Recap – Sponsored by Johnson County Community College (JCCC) Workforce Development & Continuing Education

This month’s Chamber Luncheon was hosted and sponsored by Johnson County Community College (JCCC) Workforce Development & Continuing Education, and we had the pleasure of hearing from Elisa Waldman, Vice President, who shared how JCCC continues to support both workforce training and personal enrichment in our community.

Elisa highlighted how Workforce Development & Continuing Education programs are designed to enhance career development, deepen personal enrichment, and increase skills and knowledge to boost productivity and career potential. While these courses do not provide college credit, many offer continuing education units (CEUs), certificates, and licensures—all valuable tools for advancing careers and expanding expertise.

Areas of focus include:

Business Skills Development (leadership, communication, project management)
Careers & Trades (industry certifications, technical training)
Healthcare (licensures, continuing education for medical professionals)
Life & Leisure (food & wine, Egyptology, dance, and more)
Life Skills (driver education, money management, aviation)
Small Business Development (QuickBooks training, business basics, tax workshops)
Youth Programs (STEM, enrichment, career exploration)

JCCC also partners with organizations such as Johnson County Adult Education (JCAE) to provide ABE, GED, and ESL programs; the Small Business Development Center (SBDC); and the Kansas APEX Accelerator to ensure resources are available for every stage of learning and growth.

The Workforce Development & Continuing Education branch of JCCC plays a vital role in directly supporting our local and regional workforce and community, equipping individuals with the skills, training, and knowledge to succeed in today’s ever-changing environment.
