Chamber Luncheon Recap: Community Conversation on USD 232 Bond 2026

Business and community leaders gathered for our recent Chamber Luncheon focused on an important local topic — the USD 232 Bond 2026: Expanding Opportunity initiative.

Dr. Cory Gibson, Superintendent of USD 232, provided an overview of the proposed $99.85 million no tax rate increase bond and outlined how the investment is designed to support students, families, and the broader community. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity on what the proposal includes and how it would impact the district.

Bond 2026 focuses on three key areas: Enhanced Safety, Expanded Opportunities, and Improved Facilities.

Safety & Security

Security fencing for elementary playgrounds and recreational areas
Secured key card access on all exterior doors

Career & Technical Education Expansion (CTEC CAPS)

Facility expansion to support additional programs including aviation, agriculture, and culinary arts

Early Childhood Classrooms

Expanded early childhood space to increase capacity and reduce the current waiting list

Special Education Learning Spaces

Renovations to better support student needs while returning classroom space to increase capacity

Learning Spaces for the Arts

Expanded or renovated secondary school facilities to enhance orchestra opportunities

Middle School Additions

Additions to address current needs, prepare for future growth, and include areas that function as storm shelters

The bond election will be conducted by mail. All registered voters residing within USD 232 boundaries will receive a ballot.

Voter registration deadline: February 10, 2026
Election Day: March 3, 2026
Ballots must be received by the Johnson County Election Office by 12:00 noon on March 3, 2026 (not postmarked). Voters mailing ballots should send them several days in advance.
