Women in Business Event Connects Local Professionals with Resources and Each Other
The De Soto Chamber of Commerce welcomed a great group of local professionals for our recent Women in Business event, bringing women together to connect, build relationships and learn about resources available to support their professional and entrepreneurial goals.
A special thank you to Julie Coover Agency – American Family Insurance for hosting the event in their new meeting and event space. Julie and her team provided a welcoming environment for an evening centered around connection, conversation and supporting one another.
We were pleased to welcome Rebecca Gubbels with the Enterprise Center in Johnson County (ECJC) as our featured speaker. Rebecca shared information about the many resources available through ECJC to help local entrepreneurs start, strengthen and grow their businesses.
The Enterprise Center supports entrepreneurs through connections to capital, small business consulting, entrepreneurial and investment education, structured mentoring, and peer-to-peer networking. Attendees also learned more about programs available through ECJC, including the Women’s Business Center and Growth Mentoring Service.
Adding to the conversation were local business owners who could speak firsthand about the impact of these resources. Tracy Nice with Stancy Events, who serves as a mentor, shared her perspective and experience supporting other entrepreneurs. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with Christina Rose of Happy Campers De Soto Montessori School, who has utilized support services services available through the Women’s Business Center.
Having these local connections in the room gave attendees an opportunity to not only learn about the resources available, but also connect with individuals who have firsthand experience with them.
That opportunity to make meaningful connections is at the heart of the Chamber's Women in Business program. Our goal is to create a space where women in our business community can learn from one another, build relationships, discover resources and, most importantly, support one another.
Thank you to Rebecca and everyone who helped share the work and resources available through ECJC, to Julie Coover Agency – American Family Insurance for generously hosting us, and to everyone who attended and contributed to a great evening.
