De Soto Chamber August Luncheon Highlights 811 Day and Natural Gas Safety

The De Soto Chamber of Commerce welcomed members and community partners for our August Chamber Luncheon, sponsored and hosted by Atmos Energy Corporation.

In recognition of 811 Day and the message “Always Call Before You Dig,” the luncheon gave members an opportunity to learn more about natural gas safety, damage prevention and the work Atmos Energy does to safely serve our communities.

Aaron Bishop and Matt Mosier with Atmos Energy led the conversation, sharing important safety information and answering questions from Chamber members. We were also pleased to have several Atmos Energy employees join us for lunch, providing an opportunity for members to connect directly with their team and learn more about their work in our area.

One of the key reminders from the afternoon was simple: call 811 before you dig. Whether you are planting a tree, installing a fence, building a deck or beginning a larger construction project, contacting 811 allows underground utility-owned lines to be located and marked before work begins. Atmos Energy emphasizes that this free service is an important step in preventing damage to underground utilities and keeping individuals, crews and communities safe.

Following lunch, attendees had the opportunity to tour Atmos Energy’s new office space and employee training area. The tour provided a behind-the-scenes look at the company's investment in its employees, training and safety.

Thank you to Atmos Energy, Aaron, Matt and the entire Atmos Energy team for hosting us, supporting the De Soto Chamber of Commerce and creating an informative and engaging afternoon for our members.

Our Chamber Luncheons are about more than sharing a meal. They provide an opportunity for local business and community leaders to build relationships, learn from one another and have conversations about the businesses, organizations and issues that impact our community. We appreciate everyone who joined us for August’s luncheon and helped make those connections possible.

Remember: Always Call 811 Before You Dig!
