Volunteers Needed for Tour de Webster — With an Opportunity to Double Your Impact
The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to help make the Tour de Webster a success on Saturday, September 27th. Volunteers are needed between Noon and 4:00 PM to assist with barricades, monitor along the route, help with finish line set-up, and work the registration table. In consideration of the length of the event, many shifts are just an hour or a little more, making it easy for community members to get involved without a large time commitment.
As a thank-you, each volunteer will receive $10 in Chamber Bucks, which can be spent at participating local businesses or donated directly to the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation’s Food Pantry Challenge. In a special show of community partnership, local financial institutions and the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation have committed to match every donation, dollar-for-dollar up to $6,500, doubling the impact of each contribution to the Food Pantry Challenge. A ten-dollar cash donation provides 30 meals to local families, stretching dollars much farther than food donations. With the matching funds, that same $10 donation now provides 60 meals to families in need.
The Tour de Webster was a beloved community event dating back to the 1990s. New this year, Webster City Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce and Hamilton County Conservation to bring the ride back. The event is scheduled to coincide with OktoberFest at Seneca Street Saloon, creating a fun-filled day for both participants and spectators.
“We’re excited to welcome riders and families to Webster City for the Tour de Webster, but it takes a team of volunteers to bring it all together,” said Jamie Griffith, Chamber Board President, Hamilton County Fair Manager. “This is a chance to give back, enjoy a fun community event, and make twice the difference for families in need.”
In addition to volunteer opportunities, rider registration is now open. Cyclists of all levels are encouraged to sign up and take part in this long-cherished Webster City tradition. This year’s event offers a scenic route in addition to a longer, more challenging race route.
