Welcome New Member The Texas Chic Bakery & Café

The Texas Chic Bakery & Café, owned by Racheal Burse-English, has officially been open for just over two weeks in the former Edgewater BBQ building (2001 Main Street). Emmetsburg's newest restaurant "soft opened" on March 7th and was quickly packed with locals eagerly awaiting sweet treats. The Texas Chic has a growing menu of freshly made donuts, cookies, breads, braids, rolls, muffins, turnovers, kolaches, and of course Emmetsburg's beloved nutty fries. Plus you can find hot coffee and espresso and hearty breakfast items including ham and cheese croissants, burritos and burrito bowls. 

You may know Racheal from her home baking, prior to opening the Bakery & Café. She has made stunning custom cakes and cupcakes for birthday and special events, graced holiday tables with pies and cookies, and filled many bellies with warm breads and rolls. She is no stranger to the kitchen. As a little girl, you could always find her standing on a chair at the counter or sitting at a long table, learning from her grandmothers, grandfathers, mom, and dad. She shared, "Cooking was not just about food in our family — it was about people. It was about laughter, second helpings, and stories passed around like the biscuits." As a teenager, Racheal carried her love for food into county fair competitions. Winning "Best of Fair" for a cake she made confirmed what she already felt deep down: food brings people together. This belief has shaped her life, and is the core of her business. 

"The Texas Chic Bakery & Café is more than a business. It is a return to what matters. We are working to bring a true family bakery and café back to Emmetsburg — to fill a space in the community that has history and big shoes to fill. We honor those who came before us, and we step forward with gratitude and grit." Racheal emphasized, "Around here, no one is turned away. Everyone has a seat at the table."
