Help us in welcoming one of our newest members, Ruth & Rubies Market!

Ruth & Rubies Market, owned by Lily Leyva, is one of Emmetsburg's newest retail stores. Ruth & Rubies Market works with Iowa small business vendors to offer a wide variety of retail items. You can find hand-made and curated items from Iowa, including handmade earrings and mugs, children's toys, lotions and soaps, fresh made bread, and much more.  

Lily said the business began as an idea to be more present and available with her family and to help other small businesses. She officially opened the doors to Ruth & Rubies Market at the end of January. She started with fifteen vendors on opening day and has now grown to nearly thirty! While most vendors are from Iowa, Ruth & Rubies Market now also includes products from small business vendors from Minnesota and Louisiana. Enabling vendors to work with Ruth & Rubies Market without physically staffing the store has given small businesses the opportunity to grow while also bringing more retail items to our rural area through Iowa's own small business force. Lily and her employee/fellow vendor Eileen Elsbecker staff the store Monday through Saturday. 

"I love that Emmetsburg has been so incredibly supportive, welcoming, and family friendly," Lily shared. "Emmetsburg isn’t the little town it used to be and is growing rapidly in business. It’s placed in a very strategic area to be a successful business hub." We are thrilled to have Ruth & Rubies Market in our community, and we are excited to see what more is in store. Lily has been busy working on the back room of the building to get it retail ready - getting flooring finishing, refinishing shelves, and more.
