Hillbilly Bikefest 2026 • Beattyville Appalachian Memories Festival

Each year, riders from across the region roll into Beattyville for one of the most anticipated motorcycle gatherings in Eastern Kentucky. In 2026, the Hillbilly Bikefest will once again bring the rumble of engines and the spirit of Appalachian adventure to town as part of the Beattyville Appalachian Memories Festival.

At the heart of Bikefest is the Moonshine Trail Loop of the Red River Gorge, a scenic ride that takes motorcyclists through the winding mountain roads, historic communities, and breathtaking landscapes surrounding the Red River Gorge and Daniel Boone National Forest.

This ride has quickly become a favorite among visiting motorcycle groups, including the Appalachian Motorcycle Group, who travel from across the country to experience the curves, views, and culture of Eastern Kentucky.

The Moonshine Trail Loop begins in Beattyville and winds through some of the most scenic roads in the region. Riders experience sweeping curves, forested mountain ridges, and valleys carved by centuries of flowing water. The route passes through quiet Appalachian communities and along the edges of towering sandstone cliffs that make the Red River Gorge famous around the world.

For motorcyclists, the ride offers the perfect mix of smooth cruising stretches and engaging mountain curves. For visitors, it is also a journey through Appalachian culture and history.

Official Stops on the Moonshine Trail

Along the route, riders can visit several official stops on the Moonshine Trail where the stories of Kentucky’s legendary moonshine history come to life.

One of the highlights is the Backwoods Moonshine Museum, located in downtown Beattyville. The museum showcases artifacts, stories, and traditions connected to generations of Appalachian families who produced “white lightning” deep in the mountains.

Another stop along the route is The Hungry Hiker, a favorite gathering place for both riders and outdoor adventurers exploring the Gorge.

Riders can also travel a short distance to visit the Kentucky Mountain Moonshine Distillery, where visitors can experience authentic Kentucky moonshine culture and learn about the craft that shaped so much of the region’s history.

These stops connect the ride to the heritage that inspired the name of the trail and give visitors a chance to experience the traditions that helped define Appalachia.

The Moonshine Trail Loop of the Red River Gorge is about more than just riding. It also introduces visitors to the many attractions that make the region so special.
