The Hottest Place to Cool Off This Summer

There is a moment that happens every summer in Bullhead City.

You leave the warmth of the sand. The desert sun wraps around your shoulders. Then you step into the Colorado River.

Instantly, everything changes.

The cold water rushes past your legs. The heat that felt impossible just seconds before becomes part of the experience. Conversations slow. Kids splash. Boats drift by.

It's a feeling that's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it.

Maybe that's why people keep coming back.

Miles of Colorado River shoreline, public beaches, boating, fishing, paddling, and room to unwind await visitors. Just minutes away, Lake Mohave offers crystal-clear water, dramatic desert scenery, hidden coves, and some of the Southwest's most spectacular boating and paddling opportunities.

This June, the Colorado River and Lake Mohave are once again the center of summer adventure. Whether you're boating, swimming, fishing, or simply floating along the shoreline, there's no better way to experience summer.

Find Your Perfect Beach

Not all beaches are the same.

Some are perfect for families looking to spend the day in the water. Others offer room to spread out, launch a paddleboard, or simply relax with a view of the river. From Rotary Park and Community Park to hidden stretches of shoreline along the Colorado River, everyone seems to have a favorite.

That's why we're asking visitors and locals to help us crown Bullhead City's Best Beach.

Spend a day exploring. Discover a new favorite spot. Then cast your vote in our Best Beach Survey.

You might even find a few surprises along the way.

Expect the Unexpected

One moment you're floating along the river. The next, you might spot desert wildlife doing something completely unexpected.

Recently, local boaters captured an incredible wildlife encounter as a coyote made its way across the Colorado River. The video quickly became one of our most viewed posts and served as a reminder that the river is home to more than recreation. It's also home to a remarkable variety of wildlife.

That's part of what makes time on the water in Bullhead City so memorable. The river has a way of surprising people.

As you explore, remember to boat responsibly, respect wildlife from a distance, and leave no trace so future visitors can enjoy the same incredible experiences for years to come.

Stock Up and Head Out

The best river days are often the simplest ones. A cooler packed with cold drinks. Sunscreen. Towels. A few snacks. Friends and family ready for a day on the water.

The River Shop is now open for the summer season, making it easy to grab last minute essentials before heading to the river or Lake Mohave. Whether you're launching a boat, spending the day at the beach, or exploring the shoreline, it's a convenient stop before your next adventure.

The River Shop is located inside Community Park and it's open 7 days a week.

Summer is Just Getting Started

The water may be the main attraction, but it's far from the only reason to visit Bullhead City this June.

As an official Passport 250 stop, The Bullhead Belle will host Cheers to 250, a synchronized statewide celebration on Saturday, June 6, as we raise a glass to America's journey toward its 250th anniversary.

Later this month, the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum rolls into Bullhead City. This traveling exhibit brings history to life through interactive displays, artifacts, and stories that help tell the American story as we approach our nation's semiquincentennial.

Combined with waterfront recreation, local dining, and community events happening throughout the month, June is shaping up to be one of the most exciting times to visit.

Plan Your Stay

Summer doesn't have to mean crowded airports, expensive resort fees, or spending half your vacation in traffic.

Sometimes the best memories happen where the desert meets the water. Where the mornings start on the river. Where the afternoons disappear in cool water. Where every sunset seems to linger a little longer.

Bullhead City offers a summer experience that's hard to find anywhere else. Triple digit days, refreshing water, wide open spaces, and plenty of room to make the season your own. Come for a day. Stay for the weekend.

Leave with stories you'll be telling long after summer ends.

Plan your stay below.

Less driving. More time on the water. Adventure Awaits.
