5 Things to Do in Bullhead City This September
Across the country, people are trading their piña coladas for pumpkin spice, settling into cooler days and already dreaming about next summer's trip to the beach.
Not in Bullhead City.
September still feels a lot like summer around here. The Colorado River and Lake Mohave are still calling. Mornings and evenings are beginning to offer a break from the peak summer heat. Soccer is back at Firebird Field and a packed calendar gives you plenty of reasons to keep coming back.
So don't pack away summer just yet. Here are five ways to enjoy September in Bullhead City.
1. Paddle the Colorado River in the Morning
Best for seeing the river's quieter side
The Colorado River shifts her personality as fall creeps closer.
Head out early and you may find slower-moving, crystal-clear water that feels like you're gliding across glass. Davis Dam works a little like a faucet, with water releases typically lower in the morning before increasing throughout the day.
It's a beautiful time to grab a kayak or paddleboard and see a different side of the river.

2. Squeeze in One More Summer Weekend
Best for anyone not ready to put away the floats
Not ready for summer to end? Neither are we.
September is still river and lake season in Bullhead City. Grab your floats and claim a spot at one of Bullhead City's river beaches, launch the boat or jet skis, or spend the day letting the Colorado River carry you along.
Just up the road, Lake Mohave gives you miles of blue water to explore. Find a cove, drop anchor and spend the afternoon swimming, paddling or doing absolutely nothing for a while.
You don't need to say goodbye to summer just because the calendar flipped to September.
3. Cheer on the Bighorns
Best for an evening with the home crowd
Soccer season is in full swing in Bullhead City.
Head to Bighorn Field at Rotary Park and cheer on the Mohave College Bighorns. The program may still be young, but the Bighorns aren't wasting any time building a winning tradition. The men's team captured a conference championship in just its second season.

4. Hit the Trails Again
Best for early mornings and sunset walks
Don't put away the swimsuits yet, but you might want to pull the walking shoes back out.
September days are still warm in Bullhead City, and the cool waters of Lake Mohave and the Colorado River will continue to feel pretty good. But early mornings and evenings begin to offer a welcome break from the peak summer heat, especially as the month goes on.
Take an early walk along the Colorado River Heritage Greenway Trail, hop on a bike at Rotary Park or head out in the evening and watch the desert change as the sun drops behind the mountains.
