You Never Know What You’ll Find at the Bullhead City Farmers Market
I love finding treasures.
Those rare finds you know you aren't going to see everywhere. Something handmade. Something unexpected. Something you pick up and immediately want to know who made it.
Maybe that's part of the draw of the Bullhead City Farmers Market.
Or maybe it's spending a fall Saturday outside at Community Park with the Colorado River just steps away and live music playing in the background.
Maybe it's meeting the people behind the tables and hearing the stories behind what they've created.
Actually, it's probably all of it.
And on October 3, we get to do it all again.
The Market Is Calling
The Bullhead City Farmers Market, presented by Clayton Homes and Arrowhead Credit Union, returns to Community Park on Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., kicking off a new season with more than 80 vendors.
That means plenty of tables to explore and plenty of chances to find something you didn't know you needed until you saw it.
Take Trendy Not Spendy Bootique. We stopped by for a look at what they're bringing to the market this season.
Come Hungry. Stay Awhile.
Food trucks will be serving throughout the market, and Tyler Halsey will provide the live music.
Grab something to eat. Wander the booths. Find a spot to listen to the music.
No rush. It's Saturday.
And for the first market of the season, there's a little extra fall fun waiting.
Haunted Harvest Takes Over Community Park
The October 3 theme is Haunted Harvest, and families can head to a free fun zone with mini pumpkin painting, face painting, bounce houses and a spooky selfie station.
And yes, you can pull those costumes out early.
Family-friendly costumes are encouraged, so don't make the kids wait until Halloween to wear them.
Meet the People Behind the Tables
Here's the part I think makes a farmers market different.
You're not just buying something.
You can meet the person who made it, grew it, baked it or dreamed it up.
Sometimes there's an entire second act behind that table.
Like a former teacher who became a silversmith.
Some Stories Go Back Generations
Sometimes the story behind the table started long before the market did.
One Bullhead City Farmers Market vendor makes butter brittle using a secret family recipe passed down through generations of women.
And no, we didn't get the recipe.
You Never Know What You'll Find
That's what makes wandering these tables so much fun.
You might come looking for one thing and leave with something completely different.
But the things for sale are only part of it.
There are people behind those tables. Stories. Traditions. Second acts. Things they've spent years learning how to make.
You never quite know what you'll find.
Or who you'll meet.
One Market Is Just the Beginning
October kicks off an entire season of Bullhead City Farmers Markets, with a different theme waiting each month.
Save these Saturdays:
November 14 — Homegrown Holiday
January 9 — New Year, Fresh Start
March 6 — Some Bunny Luvs You!
The market takes December off before returning in January and continuing through April.
A big thank you to our Farmers Market season sponsors: Arrowhead Credit Union, Clayton Homes, Optimum, Western Arizona Regional Medical Center, Golden Vertex, New American Funding, Canyon View Dental Care, Murphy Broadcasting, Mohave Daily News and Suzy's Bounce House.
See You at the Market
Most Bullhead City Farmers Markets are held at Community Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Colorado River providing a pretty great backdrop.
The January 9 New Year, Fresh Start market moves indoors to the Optimum Community Center.
No matter which market you visit, admission and parking are always free.
And on October 3, more than 80 vendors will be waiting.
Come see what treasures you find.
