After 27 years as a women's health nurse practitioner, Lisa followed a sweet family tradition and transformed it into a thriving woman-owned business creating hand-rolled bourbon chocolates, or bourbon balls. What makes their treats extra special? Each recipe features spirits from local Kansas City distilleries, bringing unique flavors and a strong community focus.
For 10 years, Lisa’s business has grown from an online shop to a beloved storefront and commercial kitchen based in Riverside, Missouri. Their hand-crafted, small-batch bourbon balls are made fresh weekly, with ingredients and packaging sourced locally to support Missouri businesses.
Lisa shares how support from the Riverside community and local chambers has been crucial to her journey, especially through challenges such as finding kitchen space and navigating pandemic-related hurdles. Their bourbon balls aren't just for holidays—they celebrate all of life's moments, from retirements to celebrations of life, like Lisa states, “those things really touch me because I think it’s a way to connect with people in ways that most people don’t think about using chocolates for.”
