What is Love Labette Week?

Love Labette Week, taking place April 18–26, is a time for communities across Labette County to come together and show appreciation for one another through simple acts of kindness and service. One of the most meaningful ways residents can participate this year is by helping neighbors with yard cleanup and exterior home projects, making a visible impact that benefits both individuals and neighborhoods.

Throughout the week, volunteers are encouraged to spend time helping others with tasks such as raking leaves, picking up debris, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, or cleaning up yards. These small projects can make a big difference for residents who may not have the time, physical ability, or resources to handle the work themselves. A few hours of teamwork can transform a yard and bring renewed pride to a home.

Love Labette Week also provides an opportunity to help prepare homes for the Paint Parsons project scheduled for later this summer. Before homes can be painted, many require basic outdoor cleanup or preparation. Volunteers can assist by clearing yards, removing old materials, tidying up landscaping, or helping with other simple exterior tasks that will make homes ready for the improvements ahead.

Residents who would like to volunteer their time—or those who need help with yard work or exterior cleanup—are encouraged to register through the Parsons Area Chamber of Commerce website. By signing up, volunteers can be matched with individuals or families who would appreciate assistance, ensuring that help reaches the people who need it most.

Love Labette Week is built on the idea that neighbors helping neighbors strengthens the entire community. When residents come together to lend a hand, they not only improve homes and neighborhoods, but also build stronger relationships and a deeper sense of pride in Labette County. Whether it’s clearing a flower bed, hauling away yard debris, or simply helping someone get their home ready for the next improvement project, every act of kindness helps make our community a better place to live.

Those participating are encouraged to share their acts of service throughout the week using #LoveLabette, inspiring others to join in spreading kindness across the county. With many hands working together, Love Labette Week shows just how powerful community spirit can be.
