Member of the Day: City of Parsons

Established in 1871 and named for Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad president Levi Parsons, the City of Parsons has spent more than 150 years growing from a railroad town into what it proudly calls the showcase of Southeast Kansas. Today, the city of roughly 9,100 residents blends a historic downtown shopping district with an impressive lineup of parks, trails, and recreational facilities — all backed by a local government that keeps the everyday essentials, from utilities to public safety, running smoothly.

What makes Parsons more than just a place to live is how much it works to feel like home. From Music in the Park concerts to the city's calendar of community events, local government here isn't just managing infrastructure — it's actively shaping the quality of life that makes Parsons worth investing in. As a Chamber member, the city remains one of our strongest partners in building a community where local business and civic life grow together.
