Member of the Day: Parsons Public Library
"Libraries... we are more than just books" is how Parsons Public Library describes itself, and the collection backs it up: alongside books, large-print titles, audiobooks, and DVDs, the library houses a Local History/Genealogy Room with a microfilm reader, plus free digital access to Hoopla, Kanopy, and SEKnFind for anyone with a library card. It's a resource hub as much as a reading room — and this fall, it's partnering with Humanities Kansas on a three-part book discussion series, Turning Points: Stories of Women Choosing Their Own Paths, alongside a new partnership offering free, sustainable period products through Aunt Flow.
Programs run year-round for every age group, from children's story time and summer reading to book discussions and community presentations, making the library one of the quieter but steadiest gathering points in Parsons. For a small city, that's no small thing — it's a place built to meet people where they are, whatever they're looking for.
