First SEK Antique Bazaar & Car Show a Success

We had a great turnout for our first SEK Antique Bazaar & Car Show on Saturday! For a brand-new event, we were excited to have 26 cars and trucks, four antique vendor booths, Happy Foods Concessions, and plenty of people who came downtown to check everything out.

The car show had a little bit of everything, and attendees got to choose their favorites for our Top Ten People’s Choice Awards. Congratulations to this year’s winners:

• Travis Good – 1986 Chevy C-10 Truck
• Norman Long – 1976 Chevy Monte Carlo
• David Stottmann – 1969 Dodge Super Bee
• James Han – 1925 Roadster
• Walter Nye – 1928 Ford Roadster Pickup
• Dan Gournaris – Ford Mustang
• Marilyn Ray – 1958 Ford
• Rod Fleming – Gold Chevy C-10
• Jeff Han – 1957 Chevy Truck
• Jonathon Norris – 1969 El Camino

We also had a lot of fun with our family-friendly Pin-Up Competition. Congratulations to Lennox Stover, who took first place; Emma Good, second place; and Jessica Panek, third place. Each winner received a tiara and sash donated by The Katy Antiques and made by Simply You Shirts, a gift card to Cherry on Top, and a massage gift certificate from The Wandering OM.

A big thank you also goes to The Katy Antiques and Cagle Custom Colors for sponsoring the car show trophies and the dash plaques that every registered vehicle received. We appreciate all of our businesses that jumped in to help us make the first year of this event happen. Shout out to USD 503 for lending and bringing the tables and chairs and to Katy Days for coordination of the canopies.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who brought a car, set up a booth, grabbed something to eat from Happy Foods Concessions, stopped by to look around, voted for their favorite vehicle, or just spent some time downtown with us. Twenty-six cars in our first year gives us a great start, and we’re already thinking about how we can make the SEK Antique Bazaar & Car Show even bigger and better next year!
