About Huntington Rising
Huntington Rising was born out of years of direct, on-the-ground work in Huntington's West End, built not on programs, but on relationships. Long before incorporation, our founders were walking streets and sitting with neighbors in their hardest moments. That foundation of trust is what everything we do is built on. We meet people where they are, without judgment, and connecting them to resources that can help.
We believe dignity is not something people have to earn. Every person we serve is met with respect. We are here to walk alongside people as they move toward stability and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Huntington Rising is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Huntington, West Virginia, governed by a local board of directors.
West Huntington
Our Story
Huntington Rising didn't start with a strategic plan or in a board room. It started with people showing up.
For years, our founders served Huntington's West End through distributing supplies, building relationships, and walking alongside neighbors that many systems had left behind. In 2026, Huntington Rising was formally incorporated, not as something new, but as the formalization of something already alive in the West End.
The problems we exist to solve are real and urgent.
People in the West End are overlooked by systems designed to help them and judged by a culture that too often confuses poverty with failure. And even when immediate needs are met, there is rarely a real bridge to stability. No pathway from surviving to thriving.
Isolation makes all of it worse. When people are disconnected from community, from resources, and from one another, every other problem deepens.
Huntington Rising exists to change that. One relationship and one conversation at a time and to build the kind of community where no one has to face their hardest moments alone.
