We partner with Ojai community members and organizations to build and strengthen life sustaining and regenerative ways of being.
Vision: The Ojai Valley is a resilient and ecologically healthy home for all human and non-human residents.
The Ojai Valley, California. 93023 and 93022
In 2006, founders Tim Baird and Ken Wright, joined together to establish the Ojai Valley Green Coalition and focus on designs, plans, and programs to enhance the health, safety, and quality of the Ojai Valley and create opportunities for community members to connect and contribute to the betterment of the Valley. A couple of years later, in 2008, OVGC established a non-profit status, which allows donors to support the organization and gain a tax deduction.
Over nearly two decades, accomplishments include a citywide ban on plastic bags, community events such as seed swaps, Earth Day celebrations, E-waste collections, Green Living tours, a Dark Skies ordinance, creek clean-ups, and more. Today, the Green Coalition is continuing efforts to work on solutions to some of Ojai’s “knottiest” environmental and systemic challenges. Our grass roots group brings the community together to work on ideas to mitigate climate change, build planet-friendly new habits, foster a deeper and stronger love of nature, and create an inclusive experience throughout the Valley.
