A Historic Addition to Downtown Gillette

July 1 was a day we had all been waiting for! Community members gathered downtown for the official unveiling of “The Surveyor,” a beautiful life-size bronze statue honoring Gillette’s namesake, Edward Gillette.

Created by local sculptor Tom Ford, the statue now proudly stands at the corner of 2nd Street and Gillette Avenue, creating a lasting tribute to the man whose name became part of our community’s story.

This project was truly a community effort, and Gillette Main Street is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped turn this dream into a reality. A special thank-you goes to the Gillette Rotary Club, Ray & Gloria Dinsdale Foundation, Wyoming State Parks & Cultural Resources, and all of the generous donors and supporters who contributed to this special project.

“The Surveyor” is more than a beautiful piece of public art; it is a celebration of Gillette’s history and a lasting piece of our downtown for residents and visitors to enjoy for generations to come.

We hope you’ll stop by the corner of 2nd Street and Gillette Avenue to see Edward Gillette for yourself and celebrate this exciting piece of Gillette history!
