New Stories and a Little History Come to Downtown Gillette!
On July 14, Gillette Main Street celebrated two exciting new additions to Downtown Gillette with an official ribbon cutting hosted by the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce!
The new Downtown StoryWalk gives families a fun and interactive way to explore downtown while enjoying a story along the way. A huge thank-you goes to Campbell County for applying for and receiving the grant that helped make this project a reality!
For the remainder of the year, visitors can follow Maggie and her Grandpa on their adventures while learning a little about Gillette’s history and celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Stories along the StoryWalk will be changed periodically, giving families another reason to come downtown, take a stroll, and discover something new.
The ribbon cutting also celebrated our newly wrapped electrical boxes located on the 3rd Street Plaza and along Gillette Avenue in front of The Railyard. Instead of ordinary electrical boxes, these downtown fixtures now showcase historical photographs of Gillette Main Street and offer another glimpse into our community’s past.
A huge thank-you to the Rockpile Museum for partnering with us on this project and helping bring Gillette’s history to life! We also want to thank Sir Speedy for lending their expertise in all things printed and helping us turn these historical images into something that can be enjoyed right in the heart of downtown.
We love finding new ways to celebrate Gillette’s history while adding something special to our downtown. The next time you’re out and about, take a walk, read the story, check out the historical photos, and enjoy a little piece of Gillette; past and present!
