NCACU Raises More Than $25,000 to Support Children's Assessment Centers Across Michigan

NCACU Presents Over $25,000 to Children's Assessment Centers at October Business After Hours Event at Cut River Grille

A summer of music, golf, community generosity, and superhero spirit made a meaningful difference for children and families across Michigan this year, thanks to North Central Area Credit Union (NCACU) and its supporters.

Throughout the summer of 2026, North Central Area Credit Union brought together businesses, community members, volunteers, and local organizations for its Superhero Spectacular fundraising campaign. Through a series of events and donations, the credit union raised more than $25,000 to support three Children's Assessment and Advocacy Centers serving communities across the state.

The campaign culminated in a special celebration on International Credit Union Day at their Business After Hours event at Cut River Grille with the Grayling Chamber of Commerce, Higgins Lake/Roscommon Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce, when NCACU presented checks to the three organizations and recognized the community members who helped make the fundraising effort possible.

A Summer of Community-Powered Fundraising

NCACU's Superhero Spectacular campaign demonstrated how community partnerships and a shared commitment to helping others can create a lasting impact.

The summer's fundraising activities included:

• Four summer concerts, bringing community members together through live music while supporting an important cause.

• A golf outing, offering another opportunity for participants and sponsors to contribute.

• A Rotary-sponsored shopping spree, adding a collaborative fundraising opportunity to the campaign.

• Donations from credit union members, whose generosity helped push the campaign's total beyond $25,000.

Local sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners all played a role in making the campaign successful.

Supporting Children and Families Across Michigan

The funds raised through Superhero Spectacular will benefit three organizations dedicated to supporting children and families affected by abuse and trauma:

Northern Michigan Children's Assessment Center provides a child-focused environment where children and families can access specialized support following concerns of abuse. Its work helps connect families with the resources, advocacy, and services they need during difficult circumstances.

CAN Council works to prevent child abuse and neglect while supporting children and families through advocacy, education, and coordinated community services.

Children's Advocacy Center of Kent County provides a coordinated, child-centered response to allegations of child abuse, bringing together professionals and support services to help children and their families navigate the healing process.

Children's assessment and advocacy centers play an essential role in helping young people receive compassionate care while reducing the additional stress that can come with navigating multiple agencies and services.

By directing its fundraising efforts toward these organizations, NCACU is helping strengthen a network of support for vulnerable children and families throughout Michigan.

Celebrating the Power of Community

On International Credit Union Day, NCACU gathered with supporters and community partners for an evening of celebration, featuring appetizers, seasonal beverages, live music, and conversation for a Business After Hours event at Cut River Grille. 

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of checks to the three beneficiary organizations, marking the success of months of fundraising and community involvement.

In sharing the celebration, NCACU expressed its gratitude to the many donors, sponsors, vendors, and members who contributed to the campaign.

The credit union summed up its commitment to giving back with a simple message:

“Community is our love language and we are so proud to be North Central!”
