Local Horseshoe Tournament Raises More Than $1,300 for AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

A little friendly competition turned into a big win for a local organization during the 22nd Annual Horseshoe Tournament, which raised $1,347 for the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter.

The annual tournament was organized by Mary Becker of Heart of Up North Realty and brought local businesses and community members together for a day of competition, connection and giving back.

This year’s beneficiary, the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter, provides care and support for animals throughout our area while working to connect pets with loving homes. The $1,347 raised through the tournament will help support the shelter and the important work its staff and volunteers do for animals in our community.

While there were winners in the horseshoe pits — including American Legion & Lanes taking first place and Grayling Restaurant finishing second — the bigger story was the support generated for a local nonprofit.

Events like the Horseshoe Tournament are a great example of what can happen when our local businesses, organizations and residents come together around a good cause. They create an opportunity to have some fun, build relationships and make an impact right here at home. The Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to see our business community finding creative ways to support organizations serving Crawford County and the surrounding area.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, donated or helped make this year’s tournament possible, and a special thank you to Mary Becker and Heart of Up North Realty for organizing another successful event.

Most importantly, congratulations to the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter on receiving $1,347 to continue supporting the animals and families who depend on their work.

We love having the opportunity to share stories like this from throughout our membership and community. If your business or organization has news, milestones, community projects or other updates to share, send them our way so we can help spread the word!
