Warm Weather, Wildflowers and Desert Trails in Bullhead City
If winter has you dreaming about sunshine, open desert, and a road trip that feels like freedom again, Bullhead City belongs on your spring travel list.
While much of the country is still bundled in jackets and watching the forecast, Bullhead City is enjoying blue skies, warm riding weather, and desert landscapes beginning to burst with early wildflowers. Located just off Historic Route 66, it is an easy and unforgettable detour for travelers ready to trade snow for sunshine and add real adventure to their Southwest road trip.
Desert Riding Starts Minutes From Town
One of the biggest surprises for first time visitors is how quickly the pavement disappears. Within minutes of leaving Bullhead City roadways, riders can access miles of open desert filled with winding washes, rolling hills, canyon views, and wide open landscapes.
This unique mix of easy access and expansive terrain makes Bullhead City an ideal basecamp for both quick rides and full day adventures.
Experience the Drop Into Upper Narrows
Would you take this drop?
One of the most talked-about moments from our recent ride into Upper Narrows is the steep descent into the canyon, a section that makes even experienced riders pause before easing down.
This quick POV clip has already been viewed more than 70,000 times, and it shows exactly why off-roaders are adding Bullhead City to their winter road trip plans along Historic Route 66.

More Adventure Ahead
Upper Narrows are only part of the story.
Stay tuned - you won't want to miss the tight drive into the Lower Narrows. That stretch of trail narrows dramatically, with canyon walls rising close on both sides, and it's coming soon.
Ride the Arizona Peace Trail
Start Your Ride at the New OHV Staging Area
Getting started is easy thanks to the OHV staging area near Bullhead Parkway and Silver Creek Road.
This rider friendly facility includes trailer parking, shade ramadas, restrooms, and direct trail access. For travelers hauling machines across the Southwest, this staging area makes this area one of the easiest riding stops along a Route 66 journey.
Unload, gear up, and head straight into the desert within minutes. If you are not traveling with your own machine, there are several local outfitters that offer rentals and guided rides. One of those, CJB Off Road Rentals, helped with photos and videos of my ride into the Upper Narrows.
Turn a Ride into a Full Desert Getaway
Many visitors turn a riding trip into a long weekend or warm weather escape. Spend the morning exploring desert trails, enjoy lunch and river views in town, and end the day watching the sunset along the Colorado River.
Visitors can plan their stay around local events, live entertainment, and seasonal festivals using the community events calendar. With nearby Laughlin just minutes away, there are even more dining and entertainment options to enjoy after a day on the trails.
Warm winter temperatures and sunny spring weather make this region an ideal destination when other areas are still dealing with snow and freezing mornings.
