The Tazewell County Chamber of Commerce was organized to advance and promote the interests of businesses in the Tazewell County area through the development of civic, commercial, agriculture, educational and cultural life of the community. Tazewell County is located in the southwestern portion of Virginia near major north-south (I-77) and east-west (I-81) interstates that put the county line within 500 miles of half the U.S. population. The county boasts an airport for private aircraft and is less than 30 minutes from the nearest commercial airport. Personal rail transportation is available by means of Amtrak which operates from Hinton, WV approximately 50 minutes from Bluefield. The Richlands Area Chamber was formed in 1953 and incorporated in 1991. The Tazewell Area Chamber of Commerce was organized and chartered in 1972. The two chambers merged in 2019 to become the Tazewell County Chamber of Commerce. Both Chambers were vigorous advocates for the economic success of all of the member businesses. One of the values of Southwest Virginia is the ability to band together for the greater good of the communities. Joining together gives the Chamber the ability to advocate proactively in different avenues, not only focusing on economic development and workforce but the diverse traits that makes Tazewell County a unique place to live, work and play.
