Bonzai has been a Harrison Street staple since 2009, serving classic Japanese dishes, creative rolls, and warm hospitality to students, families, and longtime locals alike. During Downtown Kirksville Restaurant Week (April 12–18), Bonzai leaned all the way in—opening their doors wide, highlighting fan favorites, and welcoming new guests who were “tasting their way” through downtown.
From the first day of Restaurant Week, the energy inside Bonzai matched the buzz on the street. Diners slid into booths, friends gathered around hibachi tables, and first‑time visitors sat at the sushi bar, trusting the chefs to guide them through the menu. As Main Street Partners and owners of Bonzai Sushi, Kristen and Peter wear a lot of hats: small business owners, employers, event partners, and everyday neighbors. Restaurant Week gave them another chance to show how seriously they take those roles.
