Small Business and Local Nonprofit Website Tips and Suggestions

Design Shop Interiors is an example of a great local website that does a lot of things right from beautiful images to mobile optimization to a good use of the blog to highlight recent projects and rank on Google.

This video addresses a handful of further refinements that will equip them to rank higher, convert more and, generally, get more out of their efforts and for other small businesses to learn. In this episode, I do a breakdown of local business Design Shop Interiors, an interior design company in Folsom, CA.

As you see in the video, and much like our prior video covering Folsom's Hope, they do a number of things well and the areas for improvement are largely next-level improvement sorts of things.

I forgot to mention in the video...

They should look at adding an SSL certificate to their site so that it's served over HTTPS not HTTP. This is more secure for users but also a something Google considers in their ranking.

These are common homepage concepts that we addressed in our previous post the 5 elements of a good homepage design.

Design Shop Interiors already identify at least a few friendly local businesses, they can take this further to tap into their Local Connections to get added brand exposure.
