Unboxing Studio e's Superfood Smoothie - Tiger, GA

Last Updated 8/26/2023In Marketing Fundamentals

You might be seeing this post about a smoothie and think that it's out of place on a blog dedicated to local marketing but don't worry, it's related.

We've worked with Elisa Hopkins owner of Studio e in Tiger, GA for some time. Recently, when discussing some of her marketing goals she mentioned they had introduced a new meal replacement smoothie.

I've been looking for something I could drink in the office and she offered to send me a sample.

We often hear from local business owners that they run out of ideas when it comes to marketing, particularly when it comes to their "Blog" and social media.

This is a shame. You should never run out of local marketing ideas.

One very effective and easy content option for many is the "unboxing post" i.e. what I'm doing here.

If you sell physical products, unboxing posts are great ways to share content visually and they require almost zero writing creativity.

The key is to share the experience as well as what is unique and interesting about the product you're highlighting.

In this case, the Superfood Smoothie is quick and easy. Just add the powder to 8ounces of water (we have a healthy supply of bottled water in the office) and you're done... though Elisa includes her favorite recipe on the box to create a more flavorful smoothie with fruit, almonds and cranberry juice.

I enjoyed the smoothie.

I find I have fewer cravings for the crunchy and sugary stuff I tend to eat at my desk, and I enjoyed the fact that she incorporated a bit of her personal story on the box.

As a local business, the "who" behind the business often matters as much or more as the "what" a business does.

This product also compliments her core business as a personal training and group fitness studio.

Finding ways to deliver new value to existing clients and introduce something for non-clients is a great way to grow.

Not every business can use unboxing posts but most retailers they can become a steady part of your content marketing strategy. They're both interesting and effective at driving foot traffic and product interest.

Start at the beginning with "the package" then show "what's in the box" and "highlight the product" (may need a few pictures) and finally "what people need to know"

Wherever possible, remember to include the basics about the product, its benefits, and something you found unique, interesting or unexpected.
