Kuni is a civic movement that bridges rural and urban communities in Japan.
Richard McCarthy, a global leader in farmers’ markets, will share lessons learned from founder Tsuyoshi Sekihara about people coming together to revive their rural communities, based on environmental stewardship and egalitarian principles: “In a near future in which people can only choose between depressed rural areas and gigantic cities, it is necessary to have a third option. In a kuni, experience of the abundance and the hardship of the land brings people together like gravity.”
Richard McCarthy founded New Orleans’ Crescent City Farmers Market, served as Executive Director of Slow Food USA and President of the US Farmers Market Coalition, and is now President of the World Farmers Coalition. www.ThinkLikePirates.com Acadians Unite! is an event series about land regeneration in the Northeast bioregion, with thought leaders, cultural experiences, and networking activities. https://lu.ma/qsn5qtms
