A Message from Pastor George Fry

Philippians 4:4-7

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Many people often quote or remember verses 4 and 6, but verse 5 is crucial. It highlights that rejoicing, not being anxious, and having peace in God stem from the phrase: “The Lord is near.” Rejoicing and peace come with the knowledge that God is with us.

Verse 5 does not ensure a life free from troubles or heartache. It does promise that God is with us. Living our life in the presence of God gives us the ability to live in the strength of Christ, the peace of Christ, and the hope of Christ.

My prayer for the Denton Church family is that you remember the promise that God is with you as you walk your journey through the joys and trials of life.
